Developing your childrens sense of confidence is a trait that can be developed and nurture over time! Doesn’t matter what past experiences may have happened, there is always a new day that offers an opportunity to improve ourselves and embark on this experience called life. As you read along, you will gain a deeper sense of understanding as to how confidence is built and especially on your kids and teens from ages of 6 to 16 years old ensuring their development, nurturing and protection.
Having a sense of confidence is one of the most liberating things you can possess. You will feel accepted, capable and in control of things no matter where you are at or attempting to accomplish. It’s like a secret super power that every single one of us has and can literally turn any ordinary person into a superhero by simply making some adjustments, focusing towards a new direction by simply setting new habits and thinking patterns.
What we are at this moment is a reflection of the work we did 5 years ago, and where we will be 5 years from now is a reflection of what we are doing now! It is never too late or too early to start and accept this truth as it will become the real reset you will need to wash away your worries, doubts and fears. The best way to begin creating change is by resetting your mind and habits and one of the best ways to get ourselves do that is by analyzing all the things that we currently do that bring down our sense of well being, as that can have a massive impact on how we feel.
Everything in this world got created for a reason and it is important to spend time thinking about those reasons as it will become a catalyst for how we approach our current indulgences. Most of the things that we do, aren’t bad things to do, the act of overindulging on some of those habits is what can break your sense of purpose, aliveness and eventually our entire selves.
Now, having cleared the way and reset our lives by analyzing where we place our time into and having created boundaries for it all. We will be ready to learn how to develop our own self of confidence and especially that of childrens.
Building your kids and teens confidence goes no further than allowing them to engage on things that challenge them. It has been proven time and time again that taking on things that are above our ability to do but no too difficult can give us a huge sense of accomplishment. Overtime, as you grow and take on more things, it will allow you to progress even faster and go much further as well.
Taking on extracurricular activities such as music, arts, dance, singing or creative writing can become just as great as playing any sport or even public speaking. That is why I am a huge advocate for engaging children very early on to practice as much activities as they possibly can and ignore electronics as much as possible unless they’re being used to learn things that develop, coordinate and enhance their bodies and minds.
The human brain has a place called the Executive Function (E.F.) which is what deals with the decision making part of our brains, our ability to strategize and think long term. This part of our brains doesn’t finish developing until the age of 26 years old! That is why between ages of 0 to 16 it is crucial to push kids and teens to develop their minds and bodies through the engagement of real hands on activities that challenges them just enough to reach new levels.
Something I normally advice parent to do, especially those who don’t have the spare finances or time to drive their kids to afterschool classes and waiting on the waiting room, is to begin spending quality time with their kids by becoming the one who cherishes them through learning, encouraging, supporting and being their team mate on some of this awesome activities!
One of the most common objections that I hear is that they think they aren’t good enough, which is one of the most irrational fears humans have. Overcoming those fears of failure and embarrassment is an ultimate win, and in this case your children will thank you, your wallet will thank you and you will be thanking yourself as you cherish different experiences that you once did as a child too. Although overcoming those limiting beliefs will not happen right away, just like anything, it will take time to embrace a new way of being and thinking but the rewards are huge!
One of the best ways to overcome this fears is to simply not place your focus on them. What you feed into your mind, you will feel even if it is not true. Fear of making a mistake means you aren’t appreciating enough the fact of your ability to try and give it some effort. Fear of not being enough would tell me you aren’t valuing your sense of self and desires to attempt something you wish to do.
Rewiring yourself will require some serious efforts and time but always remember, starting today means you could be an entirely different person 5 years from now! You CAN change and doing so will only benefit you and your entire family, what’s there to lose?
Lets begin embracing this new mindset by simply setting very small goals, deal? Something that you can accomplish in even in just a few minutes but give yourself a week if you have to. This will become your catalyst to empower your positive self thinking into believing that you are capable which will only lead to greater attempts and next thing you know, you’re off to the races conquering the world.. Your world, and all of your desires.
Accomplishing things on your own can be fulfilling but we have 8 billion people in this planet, why not maximize our fulfilment by bringing others along the journey who are also striving to progress forward just as you are?
Making friends and connection outside of what we know at the moment can be daunting. Speaking to that new person and striving to befriend them sure can be intimidating. That is why shifting your focus from trying to make them like us to ensuring we make them feel welcomed and special can be a real game changer.
Taking on leadership roles through out the places you choose to experience can help with this sense of ownership, feeling capable while developing yourself to think on your feet. This can happen in any classroom, while with peer groups or even in the grocery store by opening the door for the people coming behind you. That is leadership in action!
Remember to always keep practicing as this will be the only way to master anything. The master has failed more times than the beginner has even tried, and the engagement on ones life is the ultimate fulfillment. This experiences can never be taken away, so do not be afraid to make mistakes and and try again until you succeed. You might not see changes right away but if you continue to consistently practice, over 5 years, you will be radically different.
